On 4/18/2026 I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Daytona Dr. in reference to a domestic dispute between a father and son. While en route to the residence I was advised that the father, who the complainant identified as the aggressor, had left the scene in a grey or green Toyota Tacoma. I encountered a vehicle matching this description at the intersection of Highway 17 and Roebling Rd, where I initiated a traffic stop.

Upon approaching the driver, who I had identified as Charles Dodgen, I asked him what had just happened at his residence. Dodgen downplayed the situation, insisting that he had been angry with his son for being lazy and not wanting to improve his life. He further stated that he and his son had gotten into an argument when Charles attempted to wake him up. Charles made multiple vague and contradictory statements while discussing the situation which led me to believe he was being deceitful.

Charles claimed that his son attempted to push him out of the bedroom while simultaneously insisting that he had never entered the bedroom to begin with and refused to give any specific details about what was said or what he had done during the conflict with the exception being that he recalled his son’s girlfriend shouting “Don’t come in here, I’m naked.” to which he claimed to have responded “I don’t give a fu*k if you’re naked.” and opened the door in a manner in which he couldn’t see where she was laying.

Feeling the need to investigate the situation further I allowed Charles to return to his residence so that I could monitor him while also speaking with the complainants to get their version of events. At this time I met with [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] whose statements painted a much clearer picture of events.

Both [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] stated that Charles had woken them up by banging loudly on the door to their room and shouting for [VICTIM #1] to get up. When [VICTIM #1] did not immediately answer the door [VICTIM #2] stated that Charles began to open the door, at which time she shouted “Don’t come in here I’m naked!” According to both [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] Charles then shouted back “I don’t give a fu*k if you’re naked!” and barged fully into the room, shouting for [VICTIM #1] to “get the fu*k up.” At this time [VICTIM #1] sprang from bed and attempted to get his father to leave the room. This led to a brief shoving match between the two before Charles left the room and departed the property while [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] locked themselves in their room, fearing for their safety.

Both [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] stated that issues with Charles have been becoming more and more severe and expressed that he “needed to learn a lesson” before things got too much more out of hand. Charles was taken into custody and transported to the Effingham County Jail to be booked.
