On April 23rd, 2023, at approximately 0258 hrs, I responded to [100 BLOCK] Thoroughbred Dr. in reference to a disorderly person involving a person with a knife and a person with a gun.

Upon my arrival, I made contact with Mr. [VICTIM #1]. I conducted a pat down for weapons. I located a small firearm on Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s right side. I removed the firearm and secured it in my patrol vehicle. Mr. [VICTIM #1] then stated he got a phone call from his mother telling him to go over to his sister’s house to check on her due to her calling their father and then hanging up. He arrived at Ms. [VICTIM #2]’s house and could hear his sister and her boyfriend, Mr. Joseph Sikes, arguing in the garage.

He stated the garage was cracked open, and that was how he knew they were in the garage. He stated he heard his sister say, “Imma call daddy again.” He responded, saying, “You don’t have to call daddy. I’m here.” He stated his sister opened the garage, and Mr. Sikes immediately became upset with his presence. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated they argued back and forth for a minute until Mr. Sikes entered the residence and grabbed a kitchen knife. Mr. Sikes then pushed Ms. [VICTIM #2] out of his way and charged toward Mr. [VICTIM #1] with the knife.

Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he feared that Mr. Sikes would use the knife on him. He then drew his firearm on his side and pointed it at Mr. Sikes. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Ms. [VICTIM #2] was able to talk Mr. Sikes into putting the knife up. He stated Mr. Sikes then put the knife in the residence, and he put up his gun. Mr. [VICTIM #1] then stated when Mr. Sikes came back outside, he told him, “Let’s just talk like men.” Mr. Sikes then started to physically fight with Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated they fought for a bit and then separated.

Ms. [VICTIM #2] stated the same events as Mr. [VICTIM #1]. She added to it by advising when Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. Sikes were fighting, she went into the garage and grabbed a bat in fear that Mr. Sikes would start fighting her. She advised she did not use the bat.

Mr. Sikes stated he and his girlfriend were having a heated discussion. He saw that her brother pulled up and thought he was there to be a mediator. He stated Mr. [VICTIM #1] then, out of nowhere, pulled his gun on him. Mr. Sikes stated he then ran inside the residence and grabbed the knife. Mr. Sikes stated Ms. [VICTIM #2] then hit him in the face with a baseball bat.

Mr. Sikes was placed under arrest for aggravated assault (O.C.G.A. 16-5-21) and disorderly conduct (O.C.G.A. 16 -11-39). I placed Mr. Sikes in double-locked handcuffs and secured him in the backseat of my patrol vehicle.

Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s firearm was returned to him, and the knife was collected as evidence.

Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Ms. [VICTIM #2] were issued CRNs and informed on how to obtain a copy of this report.
