On April 26th, 2026, at approximately 1234 hours, I was dispatched to [300 BLOCK] Grist Mill Court, Rincon, in reference to a domestic involving a female armed with a handgun. It was initially advised that the handgun was secured in the female’s vehicle. While en route, it was then advised that the female was pointing the handgun at others, including her child. I did respond with emergency lights and siren.
As I was entering the neighborhood via Mill Court, it was advised that the female was fleeing the scene in a gray Acura sedan. As I was turning onto Grist Mill Court from Grist Mill Drive, I did observe a gray Acura sedan driving at a high rate of speed in my direction. I did block the vehicle’s path with my patrol vehicle to prevent it from leaving the neighborhood.
A black female then began exiting the driver position of the vehicle with both her hands hidden behind the driver door. As I was exiting my patrol vehicle, I did draw my service weapon and aimed it towards the driver. I gave her verbal commands to show me her hands, which she did by placing them above her head. I did observe a cell phone in her right hand. I then moved my weapon to a low ready position, barrel aimed towards the ground and not directly towards the female.
I then ordered the female to turn away from me, hands above her head, and walk back towards me. The female did comply with my verbal commands. Once she had reached the front of my patrol vehicle, I did holster my weapon and detain the female in handcuffs at approximately 1241 hours. Cuffs were sized to fit and double locked. A cursory search of the female found no weapons on her person. When asked where the gun was, she advised it was in her car. I then placed the female in the backseat of my patrol vehicle. At that time, she was identified as Ms. Keondria Bennett.
Ms. Bennett began to freely and willingly speak about the situation that had occurred at [300 BLOCK] Grist Mill Court. I did read her Miranda Rights at approximately 1244 hours. Ms. Bennett agreed to speak with me without a lawyer present. Ms. Bennett also complained that her right leg was possibly injured from the altercation at the residence. I did request EMS to my location to evaluate her.
Ms. Bennett advised that she had arrived to [300 BLOCK] Grist Mill Court to take her son [JUVENILE #1] to his father [VICTIM #1]. Ms. Bennett advised that she had no answer at the door or via phone, including from Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s mother, Ms. [VICTIM #2]. Ms. Bennett stated she arrived to the residence and waiting for a prolonged period of time before Mr. [VICTIM #1] arrived on scene with another female in his vehicle.
Ms. Bennett advised that a verbal argument ensued, during which time Mr. [VICTIM #1] shoved her to the ground. At that time, Ms. Bennett’s firearm fell from her waistband where it was concealed. Ms. Bennett stated to me that she retrieved her firearm and her cell phone and went to store them in her vehicle.
Ms. Bennett stated that during that time, Mr. [VICTIM #1] attempted to shove her back into her car to force her to leave. The altercation continued and Ms. Bennett was again reportedly shoved to the ground. She advised that during the altercation, Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s mother, Ms. [VICTIM #2], exited the residence and became involved. Ms. Bennett denied pointing the firearm at anyone during the incident.
During this questioning, Sgt Garland and Deputy Caneda arrived on scene. They went to question the residents of [300 BLOCK] Grist Mill Court. Shortly after, Cpl Stapleton arrived on scene and remained with me. At approximately the same time as Cpl Stapleton, Ms. Bennett’s mother arrived to the scene. EMS arrived and evaluated Ms. Bennett, advising her injuries were superficial and she might have some bruising. She was not transported for further treatment.
A Taurus G2C 9mm handgun (ACE956043) was recovered from Ms. Bennett’s vehicle (GA [REDACTED]). The firearm was secured in the trunk of my patrol vehicle. Ms. Bennett’s vehicle was released to her mother.
I then relocated to [300 BLOCK] Grist Mill Court. I spoke with Deputy Caneda who advised me of doorbell camera footage of the incident.
Based upon video footage, Ms. Bennett first arrived to the residence at approximately 1209 hours. She was observed with a stroller containing her 5 month old son, [JUVENILE #1]. After waiting for less than two minutes, Ms. Bennett stated “Well, I’m leaving you right there, so…” She then walked back to her vehicle, leaving [JUVENILE #1] unattended on the front porch. This is observed in Video 1 at the 1 Minute 25 Second mark.
Video 2 shows Ms. Bennett entering her vehicle. It is unknown if Ms. Bennett left the residence due to a gap in video footage. At approximately 1213 hours, she is observed returning to the front porch, Video 3. Videos 4 through 10 are of Ms. Bennett sitting on the porch of [300 BLOCK].
In Video 11, Ms. Bennett returns to her vehicle upon seeing a passing car that she believed belonged to Mr. [VICTIM #1]. [JUVENILE #1], her infant son, is left on the porch unattended. Due to a lapse in recording activation, it is unknown if she left the residence or remained in the driveway where she could still see [JUVENILE #1].
Video 12 picks up mid altercation between Ms. Bennett and Mr. [VICTIM #1] in the front yard. Ms. [VICTIM #2] is seen exiting the residence to intervene. At that time, [JUVENILE #1] is still left unattended on the porch in his stroller.
It should be noted that several other videos were shown at the scene by Ms. [VICTIM #2], but not all were provided at the authoring of this report.
Of the videos shown that have not been provided, Ms. Bennett was observed approaching Mr. [VICTIM #1] in the yard aggressively (walking quickly, hands clenched by her sides) several times as he attempts to walk away from her. Several times they move behind a bush where the camera loses view.
Ms. Bennett was observed confronting Mr. [VICTIM #1] several times despite his attempts to walk away or speak with her. At one point, it appears as if Ms. Bennett attempted to strike Mr. [VICTIM #1], at which point he shoves her away from him. Ms. [VICTIM #2] is observed in one section of video grabbing Ms. Bennett by the arm and leading her back to the porch, forcing her to sit in a chair while she ([VICTIM #2]) contacted 911.
Upon speaking with Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Ms. [VICTIM #2], it was advised that Ms. Bennett had attempted to punch both of them with a closed fist, missing. Mr. [VICTIM #1] advised he did attempt to restrain Ms. Bennett and push her back to her vehicle to leave, but only after she (Bennett) had attempted to strike him and Ms. [VICTIM #2], his mother.
Ms. [VICTIM #2] and Mr. [VICTIM #1] both advised that during the altercation, Ms. Bennett’s firearm was dropped but returned to her vehicle. This is corroborated via the 911 call when Ms. [VICTIM #2] advises that the firearm is in her (Bennett’s) vehicle.
Ms. [VICTIM #2] and Mr. [VICTIM #1] then stated that upon returning to her vehicle to leave, Ms. Bennett brandished the firearm and pointed it towards them both as they were at the front of the residence. [JUVENILE #1], the infant, was still on the porch at that time. There was no video available showing Ms. Bennett brandishing or aiming her firearm.
Throughout the videos shown to Deputies on scene, Ms. Bennett was observed being belligerent and using foul language openly in public, yelling and acting in a loud and boisterous manner.
It should be noted that both Ms. [VICTIM #2] and Mr. [VICTIM #1] reside at [300 BLOCK] Grist Mill Court. Ms. Bennett also arrived to the residence uninvited and unannounced.
Ms. Bennett was transported to the Effingham County Jail without incident, where she was booked under the following charges:
OCGA 16-5-23(f): Simple Battery – Family Violence
OCGA 16-11-39: Disorderly Conduct
Ms. Bennett’s firearm was secured at the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office in Evidence Locker #6, Evidence Receipt 19196. Provided videos were entered into digital evidence.
A criminal history check was completed by ECSO dispatch on Ms. Bennett. It was confirmed that she was not a convicted felon and had no prior family violence convictions.
