On November 4, 2025, at approximately 2126 hours, I was dispatched to [400 BLOCK] Hummingbird Lane in reference to a caller advising there were bullet holes in the door to the residence, and the doors were left open.

While en route, Effingham County Dispatch advised the caller reported multiple bullet holes near the door and what appeared to be blood on or around the entryway. Dispatch further advised that three males had reportedly been at the residence earlier consuming alcohol but were no longer on scene. The caller, who was waiting in a black pickup truck requested law enforcement to search the residence due to concerns that someone may still be inside or injured.

Upon arrival, I observed the front door to the residence open and a black four-door pickup truck parked to the right side of the residence. As I approached, a Hispanic male exited the vehicle. I could see a female and a small child in the front seat. The male stated he resides at the location and rents rooms to other occupants, and was unsure if anyone remained inside.

I instructed the male to return to his vehicle and remain there until the residence could be searched and secured. The male complied.
