On January 27, 2026 I was dispatched to 1575 Georgia Highway 21 in Springfield in reference to a complainant wishing to file a report.
Upon arrival, I spoke with the complainant [VICTIM #1] who advised that she recently had a company come by her residence and clean up the trash between her property and her son’s (Michael Redmond) property. She advised while the males were outside she rode by on her lawn mower to speak with them due to knowing the individuals are through outside interests.
She advised that while speaking with the males her son, Michael, approached her stating “I was going to do that” and grabbed her by her shirt collar. She stated that the two males intervened on her behalf to prevent what could have been further physical harm. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that Michael did not physically strike her with a fist or a hand but did “rub his head against her face”. When asked to elaborate further on the, she could not describe the act in question.
I spoke with one of the workers who witnessed the incident [WITNESS #1] who advised that they were on the property to help Ms. [VICTIM #1] clean trash on her property. He advised that his coworker was filling in holes with dirt when he observed Michael approach where his coworker was.
Mr. [WITNESS #1] then advised that Ms. [VICTIM #1], who was riding around the yard on her lawn mower, saw Michael and motioned for Mr. [WITNESS #1] to follow her over to where Michael was. Upon Ms. [VICTIM #1] approaching Michael he stated that Michael turned and walked away before Ms. [VICTIM #1] asked Michael “Is there a problem?” to which Michael almost immediately replied “What the hell do you want? I ain’t got nothing to say to you!”.
He advised that after a short verbal altercation he observed Michael lean over and whisper something into Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s ear which caused Ms. [VICTIM #1] to react and say “You ain’t going to talk to me like that” while pointing at Michael in a motion similar to admonishing what Michael had told her. He advised that Michael then proceeded to swipe Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s arm out of the way and grab her by her shirt collar.
Mr. [WITNESS #1] then stated that Michael upon grabbing her shirt collar proceeded to pull her close. He stated that Ms. [VICTIM #1] used her off hand to steer the lawn mower she was sitting on away from Michael in order to break his grip. Mr. [WITNESS #1] did state that the only physical altercation he observed was when Michael grabbed Ms. [VICTIM #1] by the shirt collar.
Both Ms. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. [WITNESS #1] advised that upon Michael leaving, he returned shortly thereafter to apologize to both parties. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that after Michael apologized his wife (name provided was [REDACTED]) came up to her and called her a bit*h. Mr. [WITNESS #1] advised that Michael said “I’m sorry y’all had to witness all that” to which he stated to Michael was “apology accepted” and nothing further.
Based on the statements provided it was determined that Michael Redmond is the predominate aggressor in this incident. The incident falls under the Georgia Family Violence Act due to Ms. [VICTIM #1] being the mother of Michael Redmond.
At this time warrants are pending for Mr. Redmond for the following offenses:
Simple Battery (Family Violence)- Mr. Redmond made physical contact of an insulting or provocative nature with Ms. [VICTIM #1] by grabbing her shirt collar and pulling her towards him.
Exploitation and intimidating of elder persons- Due to Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s initial hesitation to report the incident (occurred on the 22nd and was reported on the 27th).
Ms. [VICTIM #1] also advised that she was fearful of potential retaliatory actions if Mr. Redmond discovered she had reported the incident which in turn put unjust mental anguish on Ms. [VICTIM #1]. Ms. [VICTIM #1] was issued a CRN, and was advised on how to receive a copy of this report.
[End of Narrative]
