11-year-old shot inside DeKalb County home, police searching for suspect

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized after being shot during a late-night attack on a home in DeKalb County, police said.

Officers responded to the 2200 block of Hightrail Court in unincorporated Lithonia at around 11:30–11:40 p.m. Tuesday after reports that multiple rounds had been fired into the house. When they arrived, officers discovered the child inside with a gunshot wound.

The victim’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, and family members told police he was shot in the arm. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

Police said the home had been struck several times by gunfire, but no other injuries were reported. Investigators have not identified any suspects and are continuing to search for the shooter.

The DeKalb County Police Department continues to investigate the incident, and no arrests have been made at this time.
