FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Atlanta police arrested 17 people and recovered 11 firearms during a large youth gathering along the Atlanta Beltline over the weekend.

Officers responded Saturday night after becoming aware earlier in the week of several planned gatherings across the city. Authorities said police had identified four potential locations, including West Highlands, Vine City, and the Beltline. The Beltline was the only site where significant problems were reported.

During the response, officers encountered teenagers allegedly carrying firearms, engaging in reckless behavior, and attempting to evade law enforcement. Of the 17 individuals arrested, 13 were taken into custody, and four were issued copies of charges. Police also cited four people for violating the city’s curfew ordinance.

Investigators reported recovering 11 firearms from individuals who were either underage or otherwise prohibited from possessing them.

Body camera footage released by the department shows officers making multiple arrests during the operation.

In recent weeks, some private property owners, including shopping malls, have adopted new measures intended to prevent large, unsupervised youth gatherings. Police noted that public spaces such as the Beltline fall under broader city ordinance enforcement, including laws related to disorderly conduct, curfew, and parental responsibility.

Authorities said the youngest person encountered during the gathering was 13 years old. Detectives are working to identify potential organizers and parents of minors who may have violated curfew laws.

Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
