The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Gwinnett County Police Department on August 08, 2024:

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – Two suspects were arrested after stealing a pickup truck and using it to damage a high school football field before nearly striking a police officer and crashing.

On August 6, Gwinnett County Police officers took a report for a stolen Ram 1500 pickup truck.  That truck was stolen from the driveway of a house on Adams Acre Drive in Lawrenceville after two suspects entered the vehicle and found a set of keys inside the truck.  The owner of the truck had a video surveillance camera that captured the two suspects entering multiple vehicles before discovering the keys for the truck and driving off in it.  After stealing the truck, the two suspects drove it to Mill Creek High School and used it to damage the football field.

Later that day, the pickup truck was picked up by several Flock cameras in the Buford area.  Officers responded to the area and located the pickup truck behind a Walmart on Sardis Church Road.  The vehicle was still occupied by the two suspects seen earlier on the surveillance video stealing the truck.  Officers attempted to box the vehicle in with one officer parking behind the truck and another officer parking in front of it.  When officers gave commands to the occupants, they drove the car towards an officer and nearly struck him with the vehicle.  Officers followed the truck for a short distance and watched as it crashed into another vehicle on Hamilton Mill Road.  When the truck crashed, both occupants got out and fled on foot.

Officers chased both suspects.  The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old female was tased while running from officers and arrested.  The occupant of the truck fled into a wood line and was captured a short time later by the Gwinnett County Police Department’s Aviation Unit.  That suspect was 17-year-old Robert Krause (Lawrenceville).  Krause was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail and the 16-year-old was taken to a youth detention center.  Their charges include aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, fleeing or attempting to allude a police officer, reckless driving, hit and run, driving without a license, obstruction, giving false name to a police officer, theft by taking motor vehicle, and entering auto.
