DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. – A Douglas County man has been arrested on rape charges tied to assaults spanning more than a decade, and prosecutors believe he could be responsible for additional sexual assaults across western Georgia.
Bobby Lee Hart Jr., 52, was taken into custody Aug. 9 and charged in connection with rapes reported in 2012, 2022, and 2024, according to court records. A fourth case has also been linked to Hart, though officials have not released the date of that incident.
Investigators said they connected Hart to multiple victims through CODIS, the national DNA database. District Attorney Dalia Racine said Hart has also used several other names, including Maurice, Robert, Kevin, Champ, King, and Meat.
The known assaults all happened in Douglasville within a few miles of each other. One victim told investigators Hart raped her in November 2024 in the back of his semi-truck at a park-and-ride lot on Douglas Boulevard. Another said he attacked her in August 2022 in a Kroger parking lot on Hospital Drive. A third case was reported in 2012 at an apartment on Durelee Lane.
A fourth woman who spoke with 11Alive but has not filed a police report said Hart raped her in 2011 while she was homeless. She said he offered her a ride along Fairburn Road, then attacked and threatened her.
“To survivors who may not yet have come forward: you are not alone,” said Douglas County District Attorney Dalia Racine. “Coming forward takes courage, but we have investigators, prosecutors, and advocates trained and ready to support you. Your voice matters, and we are here to listen.”
Anyone with information or who believes they may be a victim is urged to contact the Douglasville Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, or the DA’s office at 770-920-7292 or da@douglascountyga.gov.
