Atlanta Police Mounted Patrol horse escapes after hole cut in fence, police investigating

The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Atlanta Police Department on March 19, 2024:

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – On March 18th, 2024, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Zone 6 Officers responded to an animal call in the area of Cherokee Ave SE.ย  Upon arrival, officers observed a City of Atlanta Mounted Patrol Horse outside its designated area.

An Officer from the Mounted Patrol Unit arrived a short while later and safely retrieved the horse and returned it back to its stable. While retrieving the horse, officers noticed a hole in the fence surrounding the stables.

Preliminary Information suggests an individual cut the hole in the fence, allowing the horse to escape.ย  Investigators responded to the location to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.ย  The investigation continues.
