BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. – A Baldwin County magistrate judge and DUI attorney was arrested over the weekend for allegedly driving drunk, according to jail records.
Shane M. Geeter, 71, was taken into custody Saturday night by a Georgia State Patrol trooper. Geeter, whose law firm website says he specializes in DUI defense, was booked into the Baldwin County Jail at 9:42 p.m.
Troopers pulled Geeter over on GA 212 after reportedly seeing his white Volvo fail to maintain its lane, according to the Georgia State Patrol. He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain lane.
Jail records show Geeter was released on a $1,000 bond around 1 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Baldwin County website, Geeter is the county’s Chief Magistrate Judge.
The arrest occurred during the busy Thanksgiving travel period. Over the 102-hour holiday window, there were 10 fatal crashes and 11 deaths statewide, according to preliminary data from the Georgia State Patrol.
