Glynn County (October 6, 2022) – Officers responded to a call at 10 Bridon Court regarding a toddler found wandering around a neighborhood alone.
Upon arrival, police spotted a woman holding a toddler wearing train pajamas and a diaper that appeared to have not been changed in quite a while. The woman stated she responded to a call from the resident at the address, saying he had found a toddler roaming around in front of his home at about 10:42 am. The caller arrived at the residence 2 or 3 minutes later and called 9-1-1 about half an hour after walking and driving around looking for the child’s parents.
At 11:36 am, dispatch contacted the officer on scene and said the mother, identified as Jennifer Miller, had just placed a 9-1-1 call stating that she had gone to the bathroom for less than 10 minutes, and when she emerged from the restroom, her toddler son was missing. The mother said that she did not call 9-1-1 immediately because she wanted to see if she could find her son first.
Miller arrived at the Bridon Court residence around 11:40. The suspect told officers she had walked around the neighborhood looking for her son but then called 9-1-1 when she was unsuccessful. She also acknowledged that her son might have walked out her front door, which was broken and didn’t close properly.
DFCS was called, and they advised that the child’s grandmother could take custody of the toddler.
Due to Miller’s son being found and left alone for over an hour with a full diaper, roaming the trailer park, Miller was charged with 1st-degree cruelty to children and transported to the Glynn County Detention Center.
