CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. – After a patient made suicidal comments, a Northside Cherokee Hospital nurse reported a possible rape to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office. She said the woman admitted that her stepfather had raped her vaginally and anally the night before.
The victim explained that her sister, brother-in-law, mother, and stepfather, Laureano Tirado, were eating dinner and drinking alcohol at her mother’s house until 1:00 AM. By 1:30 AM, only she and Tirado remained in the kitchen talking and drinking until 3:00 AM, when she began feeling disoriented.
Tired and uncomfortable with Tirado’s increasingly “creepy” behavior, like inching closer and closer to her, she stumbled up the stairs. She did not remember entering the guest bedroom; however woke up naked, on her stomach, in the guest bed with Tirado on top of her, trying to penetrate her anus with his penis.
She attempted to resist but felt too weak and endured hours of Tirado struggling “to remain erect enough to penetrate her” and eventually succeeding both in her vagina and anus. The sun had risen by the time Tirado exited the room, and she remained there crying for 30 minutes before leaving the house at 7:30 AM.
When her sister saw her tears, she told her what their stepfather had done. The victim told the officers Tirado had molested her and her older sisters when they were younger and touched her inappropriately from the ages of seven to 14.
At age 17, the victim found a camera in her shower, which she believed her stepfather had strategically placed. She and her sisters also found child pornography on his computer.
She said they had reported these incidents to her mother, biological father, and paternal grandmother, but no one took any action. After the attack, she drove to her place of employment in Woodstock, spoke with her coworker about what happened, and began making suicidal comments.
Her coworker and a friend convinced her to go to the hospital. When she called her mother from a hospital room and informed her of the rape, she told her “she needed to come home so they could all talk about it together.”
The victim said, “after the incident, she felt guilty and began feeling like she would rather die than deal with it.” She was given information on several resources for victims, and a DFACS referral was filed due to the “concerns regarding the juvenile sisters still living in the house with Eddie.”
Officers arrested Tirado on March 30, 2023, and charged him with rape, incest, sexual battery, three counts of aggravated sexual battery, and two counts of aggravated sodomy. This case is currently pending in court.
Officer’s Narrative:

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 10:29 am, Corporal Carter and I were dispatched to Northside Cherokee hospital in reference to information from a nurse reporting a possible rape.
Upon arriving at the hospital, I met with nurse [REDACTED] who informed me that her patient, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] came in for a evaluation after making suicidal statements. During [REDACTED BY AGENCY] evaluation, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] admitted that she had been raped both an*lly and vagi*ally by her stepfather the previous night. When I entered [REDACTED BY AGENCY] room (emergency room 41), I pieced the following together:
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] went to her mother’s house at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to hang out with her family. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] arrived at approximately 7:30 pm. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] mother, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] her stepfather, Eddie Tirado; her sister, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and her brother-in-law, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were all drinking alcohol and eating until 1:00 am. It was at this time her mother went to bed.
At approximately 1:30 am, her sister [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and brother-in-law [REDACTED BY AGENCY] went to bed. By this time, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] admitted to having drank two margaritas, two shots of tequila, and one bottled beer. Once her sister and brother-in-law went to bed, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was alone in the kitchen with Eddie. They stayed in the kitchen, discussing [REDACTED BY AGENCY] work situation and Eddie’s business.
At approximately 3:00 am, Eddie poured [REDACTED BY AGENCY] a third shot of tequila. After having this drink, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] quickly began feeling disoriented and tired. Also, her stepfather’s behavior became “creepy,” making her uncomfortable. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] described the creepy behavior involving him staring and moving closer to her.
This led me to ask about previous incidents with her stepfather; [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Eddie had molested her and her older sisters, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] when they were younger. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] described how Eddie had touched her inappropriately from the ages of 7 years old to 14 years old.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] also stated that when she was 17 years old, she found a camera in her shower and believed Eddie had put it there. In addition, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and her sisters had previously found child pornography on Eddie’s computer. At this time in the night, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] decided to go to bed in the upstairs guest bedroom.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] remembers leaving the kitchen and stumbling up the stairs, but does not remember getting in the guest bedroom. The next thing [REDACTED BY AGENCY] remembers is that, at an unknown time, she woke up in the guest bed, completely naked, lying on her stomach. The blankets had been pulled down to the foot of the bed, and Eddie was on top of her attempting to penetrate her an*s with his pen*s.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] tried to resist, but felt too weak to get him off her. She also attempted to tell him to stop, but she could not remember how loud she could say it. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] claimed this continued for hours as Eddie struggled to remain erect enough to penetrate her. Eventually, Eddie was able to completely penetrate both her an*s and vagi*a, but Eddie was unable to orgasm.
By the time Eddie had left [REDACTED BY AGENCY] room, the sun had come up. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stayed on the bed and cried for approximately 30 minutes before getting out of bed. At approximately 7:30 am, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] gathered her clothes, phone, and car keys and left the house; however, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was unable to find her vape pen.
When [REDACTED BY AGENCY] got into her car, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] saw her crying and asked what had happened. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told her sister what their stepfather had done. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] asked her to stay, but [REDACTED BY AGENCY] left the house and drove to her job at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in Woodstock.
Once she arrived, she talked to one of her coworkers and began to make suicidal statements. The coworker informed her that she needed to go to the hospital and seek help. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called one of her friends [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and informed him of what had happened. [REDACTED] then drove her to the hospital.
When asked if [REDACTED BY AGENCY] or her sisters had ever reported the inappropriate touching, she stated that they had previously told her mother, her biological father, and their paternal grandmother. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that there was no previous action taken regarding their accusations.
When asked about the house’s layout where the incident occurred, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that the bedroom is upstairs, the first door on the right. The bed had dark teal sheets with a white, yellow, and teal quilted blanket. When she left the house, the blanket was still bunched up at the foot of the bed.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she had not showered or brushed her teeth since the incident. While in the hospital, she was able to call her mother on the phone. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told her mother what Eddie had done. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she needed to come home so they could “all talk about it together.”
When asked if the house had any cameras that could help with the investigation, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that her mother said there is a camera in the living room that faces the stairs. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that there was a glitch in the video that showed Eddie going into [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] room and then going upstairs.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that after the incident, she felt guilty and began feeling like she would “rather die than deal with it.” These suicidal thoughts are what led her to the hospital. Before departing the hospital, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was asked if she wanted a SANE Exam. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] agreed to take the SANE exam. The clothes and personal items that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had in her possession at the hospital were secured as physical evidence in a plastic bag by [REDACTED] (Security Guard).
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] was advised of resources such as the victim bill of rights, victim advocates, and the Georgia Crisis Intervention Hotline and text line. Due to the concerns regarding the juvenile sisters still living in the house with Eddie, a DFACS referral will be filed within 24 Hours. I then spoke to Investigator Whitfield with the Criminal Investigations Division for follow on.
