Child Abuse Victim Escapes Carrollton Home, 5 arrests made

CARROLL COUNTY – 5 members of the Holmes family have been arrested after authorities say they all took some part in abusing two children of the same family.

The alleged abuse was discovered after one of the victims ran away from the family home, located at 100 Paynes Lake Drive in Carrolton, Georgia, and found a local police officer. This victim was never reported missing, even after a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy says the father, Edward Dale Holmes, drove past his stationary patrol vehicle several times while looking for the child.

All 5 suspects were granted bond, sharing conditions that they have no contact with any other co-defendant or the two victims in this case, and must stay on house arrest, with an ankle monitor, unless traveling to and from work.

We want to warn you, the following was taken directly from the criminal arrest warrants and may be disturbing to some readers:

The listed offenses are said to have occurred between the dates of January 2, 2020 and June 8, 2021.

Elizabeth Amelia Holmes, born 12/1/1978

Granted $50,000 bond

Elizabeth Holmes First Accusation: Elizabeth Holmes did have [13 YEAR OLD VICTIM] to carry a bookbag filled with bricks as she was made to clean baseboards; As well as stand in the corner of the hallway facing the wall with her hands as high on the wall as she could keep them. This punishment lasted over approximately one hour. [VICTIM] did sustain bruising to her shoulders along with abrasions. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony. It falls under FVA due to living together.

Elizabeth Holmes Second Accusation: Elizabeth Holmes did have [13 YEAR OLD VICTIM] to carry heavy logs across the yard as she was wearing a bookbag filled with bricks as punishment. [VICTIM] did sustain abrasions to the inside of her forearms which had scabbed over. this offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony. This offense falls under FVA due to [VICTIM] living with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Holmes Third Accusation: Elizabeth Holmes did keep [16 YEAR OLD VICTIM] locked in a bedroom as he was also placed under surveillance camera for hours at a time. [VICTIM] would have to knock on the wall or wave to the camera in order to go to the bathroom and if not released from his room would have to defecate/urinate in a bucket in his bedroom. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony. This offense falls under the family violence act due to [VICTIM] having lived with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Holmes Fourth Accusation: Elizabeth Holmes did remove surveillance cameras from inside her residence, as well as remove a bookbag containing rocks/bricks, delete a video application from her cell phone for the video surveillance, and encouraged her children to delete the application from their cell phones as well. As these items were part of a criminal investigation of cruelty to children. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony.

Elizabeth Holmes Fifth Accusation: Elizabeth Holmes did deprive [13 YEAR OLD VICTIM] From eating. This offense did occur numerous times throughout the above listed dates and [VICTIM] would often eat from the dogs bowls out of hunger. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony. This offense falls under the family violence act due to Elizabeth and [VICTIM] having lived at the same residence.

Elizabeth Holmes Sixth Accusation: Elizbeth Holmes did lock [16 YEAR OLD VICTIM] in a bedroom without running water and placing a 5 gallon bucket in the room to be used as a toilet as he was under constant surveillance via camera. This act did cause excessive mental pain as [VICTIM] did express embarrassment and humiliation as he often urinated and defecated on himself. This offense is punishable as a felony and did occur in Carroll County. This offense falls under the family violence act due to Elizabeth and [VICTIM] having lived together.

Elizabeth Holmes Seventh Accusation: Elizabeth Holmes did have [16 YEAR OLD VICTIM] Locked in a bedroom without running water, depriving [VICTIM] of food and water as punishment. This act did cause excessive mental pain due to [VICTIM] resulting to drinking from the 5 gallon bucket he had been using at a toilet due to being thirsty. This offense falls under the family violence act due to Elizabeth and [VICTIM] having lived together. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony.

Edward Dale Holmes, born 5/14/78

Granted $50,000 bond

Edward Dale Holmes is accused of the same offenses as Elizabeth Holmes above, except he is not currently being charged for the second accusation, where the victim was allegedly made to carry heavy logs across the yard, while wearing a bookbag full of bricks as punishment.

Brianna Kala Holmes, born 12/29/1999

Granted $20,000 bond

Brianna Kala Holmes First Accusation: Brianna Holmes did aid in committing the offense of Cruelty to Children when [s]he did aid in depriving [13 YEAR OLD VICTIM] from eating. This offense occurred numerous time throughout the above listed dates and [VICTIM] would often eat from the dogs bowl but of hunger. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony. This offense falls under the family violence act due to Brianna and [VICTIM] having lived in the same residence.

Brianna Kala Holmes Second Accusation: Brianna Holmes did aid in keeping [16 YEAR OLD VICTIM] locked in a bedroom where the lock was located on the outside of the door. [VICTIM] was kept locked in the room and only allowed out under supervision. [VICTIM] was made to use a bucket as a toilet that was located in the room, he was served food, and showers at the discretion of those in care over him with there often being weeks in between the time he was allowed to shower and days between the times he was allowed to eat or drink. This offense is punishable as a felony and did occur in Carroll County. This offense falls under the family violence act due to Brianna living in the same residence as [VICTIM].

Brianna Kala Holmes Third Accusation: Brianna Holmes did aid in committing the offense of Cruelty to Children by locking [16 YEAR OLD VICTIM] in a bedroom without running water and placing a 5 gallon bucket in the room to be used as a bathroom as he was under constant surveillance via camera. This act did cause excessive mental pain as [VICTIM] did express embarrassment and humiliation as he often urinated and defecated on himself. This offense is punishable as a felony and did occur in Carroll County. This offense falls under the family violence act due to Brianna and [VICTIM] having lived in the same residence.

Brianna Kala Holmes Fourth Accusation: Brianna Holmes did aid in committing the offense of Cruelty to Children by locking [16 YEAR OLD VICTIM] in a bedroom without running water and depriving him of food and water as punishment. This act did cause excessive mental pain due to [VICTIM] resulting to drinking from the 5 gallon bucket he had been using as a toilet due to being thirsty. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony. This offense falls under the family violence act due to Brianna and [VICTIM] having lived together.

Brianna Kala Holmes Fifth Accusation: Brianna Holmes did remove surveillance cameras from inside the residence, as well as remove a bookbag containing rocks/bricks, delete a video application from cell phones for the video surveillance, and did assist in resetting other cellphones located in the house for the purpose of destroying evidence of Cruelty to Children. This offense did occur in Carroll County and is punishable as a felony.

Andrew Dale Godfrey Holmes, born 3/25/1998

Granted $10,000 bond

Andrew Dale Godfrey Holmes is facing the exact same accusations as Brianna Kala Holmes. It is unclear at this time why his bond is $10,000 lower than Brianna’s.

Edward John Holmes, born 11/22/1996

Granted $10,000 bond
