Child seriously injured after falling out of moving vehicle, mom arrested

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. – On the afternoon of Monday, March 11, 2024, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an accident with injuries involving a young child who fell from a moving vehicle. The male juvenile was not in a car seat or wearing a seatbelt.

Allowed to roam freely in the rear seat, the boy opened a door, fell out, struck the driver’s side rear tire and then the roadway, and sustained serious injuries, noted a deputy. The accident occurred near the I-20 Interchange.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies learned that the child’s mother, Jamey Kadhim, was driving the 2021 Toyota Highlander northbound on Lewiston Road. They charged her with reckless conduct.

On Monday March 11, 2023 at approximately 1325 hours Deputies responded to Lewiston Rd. near the I 20 interchange for an accident with injuries. Deputies arrived on scene to discover that Jamey Kadhim was operating a 2021 Toyota Highlander northbound on Lewiston Rd.

Ms. Kadhim had her son [REDACTED] seated in the left rear of the vehicle without a child safety seat or seat belt, allowing [REDACTED] to roam the vehicle freely. [REDACTED] opened the left rear door while the vehicle was moving and fell out on to the roadway after striking the left rear tire of the vehicle.

This caused serious injury to [REDACTED]. A warrant was obtained for reckless conduct.
