COBB COUNTY, Ga. – A Cobb County woman is facing charges after the man she was caring for was found dead inside a home.
Police say they were called to a home on Stoneridge Drive around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28th, due to an unresponsive man.
Authorities said 62-year-old Rachel Ward was arrested after investigators discovered signs of severe neglect involving Earl Douglas, who had been under her care.
According to an arrest warrant, Douglas suffered from infected bedsores and had experienced significant weight loss in the months leading up to his death. The warrant also states that Ward failed to provide adequate living conditions, keeping Douglas in a home without air conditioning and failing to clean his room, bedding or body after he was soiled.
Ward is currently being held at the Cobb County Jail without bond. She has been charged with neglect of an elderly person.
A court date has not yet been scheduled.
