Carroll County (January 4, 2023) – A guardian of a sixteen-year-old male contacted the sheriff’s office to report a possible sexual relationship between the teen and a counselor at Devereux Behavioral Health in Cobb County.
The guardian identified the counselor as Frankye Young-Burton, 51. She stated that Young-Burton had been coming and picking up the juvenile from his residence and was taking him to unknown locations. The guardian was concerned about the relationship and possible sexual activity occurring between the two during the visits.
Reports confirmed that Young-Burton was employed by Devereux Behavioral Health and was a direct support provider when she made contact with the juvenile.
Devereux reported that the juvenile had contacted them personally and disclosed that he had been seeing Young-Burton since he was released from their inpatient care in early September. Additionally, he revealed that Young-Burton had engaged in a number of sexual acts during a Facetime video call with him.
Police executed search warrants on both cell phones for the juvenile and Young-Burton. While the data from Young-Burton’s cell phone are still being analyzed, the contents of the juvenile’s cell phone confirmed a relationship had existed within the time period initially claimed and that Young-Burton and the juvenile had physically interacted on multiple occasions. The juvenile’s phone contained screenshots of the Facetime video calls. The screenshots were sexual in nature and contained nudity.
Devereux conducted their own internal investigation into the matter. They advised that Young-Burton is no longer employed by their facility.
On January 27, Young-Burton was arrested and charged with sexual assault by a psychotherapist and electronically furnishing obscene material to minors. She was booked into the Carroll County Jail with a bond set at $250k. This case is currently pending in court.
