DEKLAB COUNTY, Ga. – A DeKalb County detention officer has been arrested on multiple felony charges after investigators say he attempted to bring drugs into the county jail.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that DeShawn Robinson was taken into custody Sept. 11. He faces charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoid, marijuana or K2 with intent to distribute; items prohibited for possession by inmates; and violation of oath by a public officer.
Robinson has since been released on bond, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Officials confirmed Robinson is no longer employed with the agency but did not say whether he was terminated or resigned following his arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released further details about the circumstances that led to Robinson’s arrest.
