FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced the selection of Atlanta for the new global headquarters of one of the top-selling battery companies in the world. Duracell, no stranger to Georgia with a logistics and distribution center in Fairburn and a manufacturing plant in LaGrange, will open a new Global Headquarters for Research and Development at Science Square.
The $56 million investment will create 110 jobs at the 101 Nerem Street NW location, which neighbors the Midtown Atlanta campus of Georgia Tech. Science Square offers 18 acres of multi-phase development and over 1.8 million square feet of laboratory and office space.
In a press release, Governor Kemp stated, “Georgia has set itself apart as a leader in attracting innovative companies with our research institutions, world-class logistics network, and pro-business environment. I want to thank our local and state partners who are leveraging those assets to their fullest to bring new opportunities across the state. We are excited to welcome Duracell’s R&D headquarters to Atlanta and continue building on this great relationship.”
Mayor Andre Dickens said, “Atlanta’s transportation infrastructure, diverse talent pool from top-tier universities, and a thriving tech ecosystem make the city an ideal environment for corporate innovation and growth. We appreciate Duracell’s confidence in Atlanta, including the investment of more than 100 new jobs that will provide the opportunity for more Atlanta residents to build promising careers.”
Chief Technology Officer at Duracell, Dr. Liben Hailu, expressed, “We’re excited about the opportunities the move to Atlanta will bring, and we’re confident this new chapter will strengthen our position as a global leader in the industry.
