Elderly man ‘trying to get a girlfriend’ charged for fondling himself in front of school bus

Murray County (December 13, 2022) – A 73-year-old man was arrested after deputies responded to a report regarding a man “playing with himself” in public view on Torino Drive. When a deputy arrived, the suspect was standing in the doorway, fully nude, fondling himself.

The responding deputy noted the naked man, Terry Edward Ray, was in full view of the public, including a school bus full of children that entered the neighborhood behind the deputy’s cruiser. The bus was dropping children off in the area.

When questioned about his lewd behavior, Ray told the deputy he was “trying to get a girlfriend.” He was instructed to put his clothing back on and “go for a ride” with deputies. Ray was taken to the Murray County Jail, where he was charged with a probation violation and public indecency.

On 12-13-2022 at 1515 hours, I SFC Keener respond with Deputy Cartliedge to [100 BLOCK] Torino Drive to a man standing in the doorway with no clothes on playing with himself.

Upon my arrival coming in from the north going south I could see the male (Terry Ray) in the front door with no clothes on and his hands down around his private area. Just behind me was a school bus letting off kid’s from school.

I walked upon the front porch with my body cam on and asked him what he was doing and he stated trying to get a girl friend. I advised him that he would need to get his clothing on so he could take a ride with us. Deputy Cartleidge placed him in his back seat of his patrol car and took him to the county jail. He was turned over to jail staff.

I will be taking a warrant for public indecency.
