CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities arrested a 27-year-old Summit Food contract employee on March 13, 2024, after she admitted to accepting payments from detainees’ family members to smuggle drugs inside the jail. Indonesia Marie Bell was charged with felony attempt or conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.

On March 11, suspicions of possible drugs entering the jail led the Criminal Investigation Division to investigate the facility and, specifically, the kitchen.

Summit Food, a provider of food services to correctional facilities, terminated Bell’s employment following her admission.

Chatham County Sheriff John Wilcher revealed that this active investigation will likely facilitate additional charges and arrests.

Sheriff Wilcher stated, “As the sheriff of Chatham County, I want to clarify that there hasn’t been a noticeable increase in drugs entering our facility. What we are witnessing, however, is a testament to the investigative skill and dedication of our Criminal Investigation Division.”
