FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – A man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon outside a Bojangles’ restaurant in Palmetto after what police believe began as a fight between two men, authorities said.
Palmetto Police Chief Bryan Hergesell said officers were called around 1:15 p.m. to the restaurant on the 9100 block of Roosevelt Highway, where they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified by family members as Dominique Goodman.
Goodman had gone to the restaurant because his daughter, who works there, called home saying her shift manager had been picking on her, relatives said. According to the family, the manager was sent home but remained in the parking lot when Goodman arrived.
Family members said Goodman approached the man in an attempt to talk, but the manager got out of his car and opened fire, shooting Goodman multiple times.
Police on Sunday night identified the suspected shooter as Maurice Nolan Evans of Forest Park. Investigators confirmed Evans was an employee of the restaurant. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Evans was booked into the Fulton County Jail and waived his first court appearance Monday morning.
Police have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
