WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – A weekend camping trip turned violent when a Georgia father and his daughter were brutally attacked at a North Georgia campground, leaving the father in critical condition and four suspects facing felony charges.

According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, the 58-year-old father and his 20-year-old daughter were camping at Low Gap Campground on Saturday when they were assaulted by a group of people in what family members say was an unprovoked attack.

According to reports, the victim was eating peanut brittle and fixing his fishing pole while his daughter was eating boiled peanuts when the group allegedly attacked them from behind.

Authorities say Krista Wilson, 44, began the assault by attacking the daughter, who stabbed Wilson in self-defense during the struggle. At the same time, the father was struck in the side of the head with a glass beer bottle, which cut him from his ear to the back of his neck. He collapsed to the ground, where he was reportedly assaulted further.

The father suffered a severe brain bleed and remains in the intensive care unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Family members say he received at least 40 stitches. His daughter sustained bruising and was also taken to the hospital, where she remains in serious condition.

Deputies arrested four suspects in the case, all from Lula, Ga. Krista Wilson, 44; Joshua Wilson, 42; Joshua Miller, 32; and Charles Miller, 39, are each charged with aggravated assault and battery.

Investigators have not released details about what led to the attack but said the case remains under investigation.

The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise support and is speaking out in hopes of preventing future violence in public camping areas.
