FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – A former Floyd County Drug Court coordinator has been sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to a sexual relationship with a man enrolled in the program she supervised.

Erin Ranee Young, 39, of Calhoun, pleaded guilty last week to felony sexual contact with a program participant. Prosecutors said she provided the man with special treatment not afforded to other participants in the court-supervised rehabilitation program.

Young’s defense attorney, Wade Hoyt, asked the court for leniency, noting that she was experiencing a difficult period that included a divorce and caring for her terminally ill father. Hoyt said Young had already lost her job, home, and financial stability as a result of the case and emphasized her lack of prior criminal history.

Superior Court Judge Bryan Johnson imposed a two-year prison term and gave Young several days to arrange her personal affairs before reporting to serve her sentence.

Young was first arrested in November 2022 after investigators said she had an ongoing sexual relationship with the participant between July 2021 and November 2022. She was charged with sexual assault by an employee of a law enforcement agency.
