DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. – A former gym teacher and baseball coach at a private Christian school in Douglas County has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children after a cyber investigation linked him to explicit content involving minors.
Maverick Austin Beaudreau was taken into custody after the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received two cyber tips on June 24 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tips involved the social media app Kik and reported a total of 20 videos and two images suspected to depict child sexual abuse material.
Investigators traced the uploads to a Douglas County residence using a phone number and IP address associated with the Kik accounts. A search warrant was executed at the home, where multiple electronic devices were seized. Forensic analysis later confirmed the presence of the reported material on one of the devices.
Beaudreau is charged with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of children under Georgia law. A judge denied bond, citing him as a potential flight risk. The case has been forwarded to Douglas County Superior Court.
At the time of the investigation, Beaudreau was employed as a physical education teacher and baseball coach at Praise Christian Academy, a small K–12 private school in Douglas County. School officials confirmed he recently resigned.
Authorities say there is no evidence that any of the alleged crimes occurred on school grounds or involved students. In a letter sent to parents, the school stated: “This is the first time we’ve heard of any allegations of criminal activity about this former employee, and we are not aware that anything criminal took place on school campus.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
