COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities arrested a former Walton High School student after receiving multiple tips about a “hit list” posted on social media, including students and faculty members from two Cobb County high schools. The school district confirmed that the list targeted individuals from Pope and Walton High Schools and included a school resource officer as well.
A spokesperson for the Cobb County school district stated, “Following the thorough police investigation, in coordination with the GBI, the suspect has been arrested for this illegal and disruptive behavior.” The juvenile faces charges of disrupting the operation of a public school and making terroristic threats.
The district revealed that since the fatal tragedy at Apalachee High School on September 4, 2024, their schools have received more than 75 false threats.
The spokesperson said, “While they have been investigated and not found to be credible threats, they do create anxiety in students and parents and cost a lot of time for staff and police. We continue to ask students and parents to use the district’s tip line to report concerns as the fastest and best way to support their child’s safety.”
This case is pending.
