The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Atlanta Police Department on November 17, 2023:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – On November 17th, 2023, at approximately 12:23PM, officers responded to 150 Merritts Avenue NW in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, a concerned citizen notified the responding officer that the possible suspect was fleeing from a nearby apartment.
Officers then canvassed the area for the suspect and were able to locate him in the area of West Peachtree Street NW and Linden Avenue NE. Responding officers observed that the suspect was in possession of a firearm and the suspect again attempted to flee the area on foot.
Officers pursued the suspect where he ran inside of Emory Hospital. While inside of the hospital, officers confronted the suspect and one of the responding officers discharged his firearm.
No one was struck by the gunfire and officers were able to place the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Damien Arceneaux. Criminal charges are pending for this case.
