Warning: The following story contains information regarding alleged domestic violence.

BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities arrested a 44-year-old Brooks County man for shooting and killing his wife and daughter and shooting and injuring his son in a domestic incident in Quitman on Friday, November 29, 2024. Deputies responded to the Shiver Road residence that morning to find mother and daughter, 48-year-old Tamiko Mobley, and 25-year-old Tiaja Mobley, deceased inside and a male with non-life-threatening injuries.

After the discovery, the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The shooting occurred at the daughter’s home; her mother was staying there due to a dispute with the suspect, her husband, the previous night.

Law enforcement identified Wilbert Mobley Jr. as the shooter, and the Quitman Police Department assisted deputies with detaining him outside the home. The GBI explained that the suspect was Tiaja’s father and Tamiko’s husband.

Authorities transported Mobley Jr. to the Brooks County Jail, where he faces multiple charges, including three counts each of aggravated assault and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime and two counts each of felony murder and malice murder.

Tiaja and Tamiko’s bodies were transported to the GBI’s Macon Crime Lab, where autopsies will be performed.

This investigation remains open. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to please contact law enforcement.
