GBI investigates shooting at Dublin Burger King that left three shot, one dead

The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on December 5, 2023:

LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. – The GBI is investigating a shooting that left one man dead, and two others injured. On Sunday, December 3, 2023, at about 9:20 p.m., the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Eastman was requested by the Dublin Police Department in reference to a shooting at Burger King at 1618 Veterans Blvd., Dublin, GA.  

Preliminary information indicates that there was an argument between Burger King employees which resulted in Jeremiah Watkins, age 19, of Dublin, GA, and Johnny Hall, age 19, of Dublin, GA, going to the Burger King. Hall and Watkins were not employees.

As a result of the argument between employees, Hall and Watkins fought in the parking lot. During the fight, Hall and Watkins pulled out guns and began shooting at each other.

Hall and Watkins were shot and injured along with a woman who was at the scene with Hall. All were treated for their injuries at the hospital. Watkins died as a result of his injuries.  

This investigation is active and ongoing. Once complete, it will be given to the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
