The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office:
Richmond County (March 16, 2023) – On Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at approximately 10:42pm, Richmond County Deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Brandywine Place in reference to an unknown situation. Shortly after, dispatch received a call of shots fired at the same location.
When deputies arrived on scene, they attempted to engage with the male subject located inside of the residence so that he could come outside to speak with them. The male subject refused and later shot at deputies. Deputies returned fire striking the male subject at least one time. The male subject was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. No deputies were injured.
Upon entering the residence, an adult female victim was found, deceased inside of the home. CID is on scene and the GBI was requested to assist with the investigation.
This investigation is in its early stages and no further information will be released at this time.
