DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A police chase in DeKalb County ended in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday evening, sending four people to the hospital.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers were searching around 7:16 p.m. for a stolen Kia near Redan Road and South Indian Creek Road. Officers spotted a car matching the description pulling out of a gas station and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, prompting a chase.
Authorities said the driver entered the westbound lanes near Mill Lake Drive and struck a Nissan. The collision caused the Nissan to spin into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with a GSP patrol car. The stolen Kia then crashed into three additional vehicles before coming to a stop.
Troopers were able to take the suspect into custody after finding him trapped in the crashed Kia. A stolen firearm was also recovered from the driver.
Four people were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. GSP said the passenger of the Nissan sustained serious injuries, while two others suffered minor cuts and bruises.
No additional details about the suspect’s identity or charges have been released.
