MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga. – A 22-year-old man died from a self-inflicted gunshot Monday morning following an active shooter incident at an Amazon fulfillment center in Columbus, authorities said.

The Columbus Police Department said officers were called to the facility on Chatsworth Road just before 4:47 a.m. after multiple 911 calls reported someone firing into the building.

Investigators identified the suspect as Mylen Belyue. According to police, he fired several rounds from outside the facility before walking a short distance away, where responding officers confronted him. Belyue then brandished a firearm, prompting a brief standoff that ended when he shot himself.

“No one else was injured in the incident,” police said. Authorities have not released additional details on the firearm or the exact number of shots fired. The investigation is ongoing, and police said more information will be released as it becomes available.

Belyue’s father told WTVM that his son had been employed at the warehouse since June but had left about a week ago. He said Mylen had been bullied at work and had sought mental health treatment.

Amazon released a statement saying it was “supporting those who were onsite during this incident” and was “thankful no one else was injured.” The company added, “We’re working closely with local law enforcement as they investigate.”

Authorities described the scene as chaotic, with employees being evacuated from the facility. The incident prompted an immediate police response and a temporary lockdown of the surrounding area, though no further threats were reported.
