GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – A man is recovering after being shot 13 times during a carjacking outside his apartment on McGinnis Ferry Road in Suwanee. Gwinnett County Police arrested two suspects on February 26, 2024, after utilizing a PIT maneuver on the stolen vehicle on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

Giovanni Moore’s family said his survival was a miracle; however, his long road to recovery will be painful and arduous. His relatives created a GoFundMe account and posted photographs of him lying in a hospital bed in critical condition.

The page explains that he sustained bleeding and collapsed lungs, broken ribs, a shattered right arm, and major liver damage. One bullet struck his right knee, and nine bullets entered his left leg, hitting a major artery and causing him to nearly lose the limb.

A family member reported that Moore was released from the ICU and “has amazed doctors with his recovery progress so far.”

After police conducted the PIT maneuver, the suspects fled on foot into the woods. Officers apprehended 19-year-old James Casey and 22-year-old Deaundrey Everett, and they face a combined 25 charges.

Officials have yet to release the men’s motives for the crimes but revealed that they are suspected gang members. Gwinnett County Police Corporal Juan Madiedo said, “A gun was recovered on one of the suspects,” and they each face drug charges as well.

Corporal Madiedo stated, “We cannot let suspects pose a danger to the community. We train hard here in Gwinnett County. They’re going to be apprehended.”

He continued, “A gun is removed from the streets, and violent criminals will have their day in court.” This case is pending.
