HALL COUNTY, Ga. – Hall County Animal Services officers seized 100 animals from a Gainesville home Friday after responding to a large-scale hoarding case, authorities said.
Animal Control officers were called to a residence on Honeysuckle Road around 10 a.m., where they removed 82 dogs, seven cats, eight rabbits, one horse, one bird, and one fish, according to Hall County officials. All of the animals were transported to the Hall County Animal Shelter for veterinary evaluations and ongoing care.
Officials said the animals are not yet available for adoption or rescue placements as staff work to assess their medical needs and overall condition.
The case remains under investigation by Hall County Animal Control. Authorities have not identified the person who lived at the home and have not said whether criminal charges will be filed.
Officials also have not released details about the conditions inside the residence, how long the animals were kept there, what prompted the call to Animal Control, or whether additional animals may still be unaccounted for. The shelter has not disclosed the specific health issues affecting the animals or when they might become available for adoption.
Hall County officials said residents who want to help can donate to the Friends of Hall County Animal Services Fund. The shelter is open for adoptions, foster inquiries, and volunteers Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
