BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. – The husband of Georgia Department of Family and Children Services Commissioner Candice Broce has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence, including two counts of child endangerment.

Jason Broce, 43, was booked into the Bartow County Jail on Oct. 16 on charges including DUI, hit and run, following too closely, and failure to maintain lane, according to sheriff’s office records. The two child endangerment counts indicate his children, both under 14, were passengers in the vehicle at the time of the alleged incident. Broce was released from jail on Oct. 17 on a $3,800 bond.

The Georgia State Patrol confirmed the arrest but has not released details about the condition or current whereabouts of the children.

Candice Broce, who was appointed to lead the Georgia Department of Human Services in 2021 by Governor Kemp, declined to comment on the arrest. A spokeswoman for the agency said in an email, “No comment on personnel matters.”

The governor’s office also declined to comment.

Jason Broce has worked as a lobbyist at the Georgia Capitol and founded the Terminus South government relations firm. His firm’s website notes that he formerly served as a campaign policy advisor for Gov. Brian Kemp. State Ethics Commission records show Broce has registered in the past to lobby on behalf of healthcare clients, including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the Georgia Healthcare Association, and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Georgia.

The case remains under investigation by local authorities, and additional information is expected as the situation develops.
