SUMTER COUNTY, Ga. – The 67th Annual Grammy Awards show took place on Sunday, February 2, 2025, and the late former president, Jimmy Carter, won another Grammy, marking his fourth win. Carter, who passed away on December 29 at the age of 100, would have achieved the honor of the oldest winner ever; currently, blues artist Pinetop Perkins holds the record with a win in 2011 at age 97.

President Carter, the peanut farmer from Plains, won this year’s Grammy in the category of audio book, narration, and storytelling recording. His compilation of recordings from lessons he recited to his final Sunday School classes at Maranatha Baptist Church, “Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration,” also featured popular artists, including LeAnn Rimes, Darius Rucker, and Jon Batiste.

Also nominated in the category were Barbara Streisand, Dolly Parton, George Clinton, and Guy Oldfield. Carter won his three previous Grammy awards in the category of spoken word album.

The 39th president’s grandson, Jason Carter, stated, “He’s such an enormous music fan. He loves the creative aspect of music. It’s been an important part of his political life, an important part of his personal life. He’s an artist in many ways.”

Other former presidents who share the honor of Grammy wins are Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, with two each. Former presidents who secured nominations but no wins were John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and Harry S. Truman. First ladies Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama have won Grammy awards, as well.
