The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office:
Bibb County (March 30, 2023) – Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to Brookhaven Apartments ,located at 4861 Brookhaven Rd; on March 29, 2023, at 6:31p.m. in reference to a domestic call.
While enroute, deputies were advised of an additional call of a person shot at the same location. When deputies arrived, they discovered a Hispanic male unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced the victim later identified as 37-year-old Christopher Matthew Rachalla , deceased at the scene.
It was reported that suspect 32-year-old Keywan Gerold Capers was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend when victim 37-year-old Christopher Matthew Rachalla tried to intervene and was shot and killed by Capers. After shooting Rachalla , Capers fled the scene in his girlfriend’s vehicle. A look-out was placed for Capers and the vehicle. The vehicle was located moments later and stopped. Capers was taken into custody with the assistance of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office . Capers was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where he is charged with Aggravated Assault and Murder. He is currently being held without bond.
