Warning: The following story contains information regarding violence.

MACON, Ga – A Macon man who called police after a teenage girl was shot under her chin in her Blossom Hill apartment in November 2017 is now charged with her murder.

Reports say Kedrick Tyrese Reynolds, of Lilly Avenue in Macon, called 911 around 4 PM on November 21, 2017. The suspected murderer told Bibb County deputies that the teenage victim, NyKhia Sampson, was dancing around with a gun and shot herself when he startled her. She died two years later.

When deputies responded to Reynolds’ 911 call, they found the girl unconscious on the floor with blood coming from her mouth. She had been shot under the chin with a pink handgun that was found lying near her body. A toddler was found unharmed in another room in the apartment.

Reynolds reportedly told investigators that the victim was his “homegirl” and that he came by for a visit, and when he jokingly startled the teen, she shot herself. He claimed that after the victim shot herself, he called for help and put pressure on the wound on her neck until deputies arrived. Reynolds’ hands were covered in blood.

Reynolds was arrested after the shooting and charged with a probation violation and lying to police. On April 12, 2023 he was booked into the Bibb County Jail and charged with murder.
