BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the death of a missing 25-year-old man who was later located by Butts County investigators on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Witnesses reported last seeing the victim, Taylor Coup, at approximately 2:45 AM on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Shawn O’Brian’s on Highway 36 in Jackson, Georgia.
John Jacob Martin was charged with murder and transported to the Butts County Jail, where he remains detained.
Sheriff Gary Long stated, “I want to publicly commend my deputies for being so relentless in their efforts in searching for Taylor and bringing justice in such a senseless crime. I am asking the community to keep Taylor’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they have a very difficult road to navigate.”
Officials have not released where they found Coup’s body.
