The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Atlanta Police Department on March 5, 2024:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – On March 5, 2024, at approximately 0500hrs, an adult male attempted to break into an apartment unit located at 1620 Hollywood Rd NW. The victim retrieved a firearm and shot towards the suspect.
The suspect was not shot but did sustain non-life-threatening injuries from a fall. Zone 1 Officers responded to the location and temporarily detained the suspect.
The suspect was later taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
It was determined the victim was an off-duty Atlanta Police Officer who was home at the time of the burglary. Investigators responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
