BIBB COUNTY, Ga. – A man fatally shot his wife and daughter before turning the gun on himself during an eviction Tuesday morning in Bibb County’s Lake Wildwood neighborhood, according to the coroner.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones identified the victims as Brande Summers, 49, and Haliegh Summers, 21. The shooter was identified as Ray Summers, 51, who died around 4:40 p.m. at a Macon hospital.

Jones said the man also shot and killed the family’s dog and cat. He added that Summers had been fired from his job on Friday.

The shooting led to a two-hour standoff in the Macon gated community, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Chace Ambrose with the sheriff’s office said a deputy responded to a home in the 1100 block of Greentree Parkway around 10:15 a.m. to serve an eviction notice.

As the deputy approached, he heard gunshots, Ambrose said. The deputy retreated and called for backup. Negotiations began roughly 15 minutes later at around 10:30 a.m.

When deputies eventually entered the home at 12 p.m., they found two women dead and the suspect suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.

The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died, Jones said.

The family has been notified.
