WALTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 42-year-old metro Atlanta man is facing multiple arson-related charges after investigators linked him to a series of fires across three counties, authorities said.

Loganville officials announced warrants for Javon J. Heard of Lilburn following a coordinated investigation into several fires reported March 26.

According to authorities, the incidents began around 2:15 p.m. when Loganville Fire Department crews responded to a brush fire on Logan Drive. Minutes later, firefighters were called to a commercial structure fire on CS Floyd Road, where flames engulfed about half of a strip-style building.

Walton County fire officials said a fire-rated wall helped prevent the blaze from spreading further, though part of the building was destroyed.

While crews were still battling that fire, a third blaze was reported behind a property along Atlanta Highway. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services assisted in extinguishing that fire.

Investigators later determined all three fires were intentionally set. Through surveillance footage and canvassing, authorities identified Heard as a suspect and connected the incidents to a broader pattern involving additional fires in DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.

The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Loganville Police Department, Gwinnett County fire investigators, the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office and DeKalb County fire officials.

Heard is currently in custody in DeKalb County, where he faces additional arson-related charges.

In Loganville, he is charged with first-degree arson, multiple counts of criminal damage to property, burning of wildlands and reckless conduct.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing
