Baldwin County (October 19, 2022) – On June 17, 2020, police responded to a home invasion on Butler Road in Milledgeville when a couple had been viscously attacked and beaten while in their bed with a metal pipe. Two years later, police have arrested Bailey Dawson McDaniel, in connection with the violent assault.

The son of one of the victims, who was in the home at the time, called police when he heard the couple being attacked. The suspect was gone by the time police arrived. The officers noted there was broken glass on the floor where a window had been broken.

The victims told police they were in bed asleep when a man wearing a bandana and gloves, carrying a pipe and a handgun, kicked in their bedroom door and attacked. The male victim suffered from a head injury, and the female victim had a cut on her wrist.

The male victim hit his attacker over the head with an ashtray and a lamp during the attack. One of the victims quoted their attacker as saying, “I want to see you crawl, you child molester.”

One of the victims told officers they believed a family member sent someone to attack the pair, saying he disapproved of their relationship because of past issues. According to reports, the suspect told the male victim he “better be gone when I come back.”

McDaniel was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and home invasion. He was booked into the Baldwin County Jail.
