Update #2: 49-year-old Mickey Anthony Woolery has been taken into custody by the Carmel Indiana Police Department and is charged with the murder of his former wife Samantha Woolery.
MPD Detectives collected evidence and secured warrant 24-W-5658 yesterday afternoon, charging Mickey with Felony Murder, Felony Aggravated Assault, Felony Aggravated Battery, Felony Possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, and Felony Malice Murder.
Evidence led detectives to believe that Mickey had fled Georgia and returned to his primary residence in Carmel Indiana. Detectives from both agencies coordinated efforts including the use of the Carmel SWAT team, to search multiple addresses and ultimately arrange for Mickey’s capture.
During their search, it is reported that Mickey attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended. We appreciate the professional way their agency coordinated efforts and swiftly captured this dangerous fugitive. Our investigative team will work now to coordinate Mickey’s extradition to Georgia.
Update #1: Detectives have gathered evidence and can now confirm they have a suspect identified in the death of 42-year-old Samantha Wollery. Samantha was attacked overnight while inside her apartment at 425 Williams Drive.
This attack was an isolated incident by someone she was familiar with. There is no known threat to the public at this time.
All evidence indicates that the suspect fled the area shortly after the attack occurred. The name is being withheld while detectives work to secure their apprehension. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Earlier this morning our officers on shift were notified by Cobb 911 dispatch that a woman living in the 425 Williams Drive apartment complex had been stabbed.
According to dispatch, the victim did not show up for work and her coworkers were concerned and drove to check on her. When they arrived, they found her body on the floor inside the apartment.
She had visible cuts, was unresponsive and appeared deceased. They exited the apartment and immediately called 911 requesting assistance.
We can confirm the woman did not survive the attack and was deceased when her coworkers arrived to check on her. The victim, a 42-year-old female, was attacked inside her apartment overnight.
The door was closed but unlocked when her friends arrived. The cause of death has not yet been determined. Her name will be released after family notifications are made.
Like you, we have more questions than answers. Detectives are working now to collect statements and gather evidence. At this time, we do not have a suspect identified.
