GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – On Monday, September 9, 2024, at approximately 11:50 PM, a vehicle struck a 14-year-old boy riding a dirt bike across six lanes of traffic on Lawrenceville Highway, resulting in his death. Noah Geiger and his older brother were driving their dirt bikes, which had no working headlights, to a nearby gas station to put air in their tires while their mother followed them in a vehicle trying to supply light.
Authorities arrested the boy’s mother, Amanda Geiger, and charged her with second-degree murder for “allowing” her son “to operate an unregistered dirt bike with no exterior lighting” across six traffic lanes. The arrest warrant explained that the dirt bikes were not intended for use on highways, and the site was not well-lit.
Noah’s father explained, “When I arrived, the car was in flames that hit my son. When he got hit, he got airborne and hit the ground.”
He said, “They were crossing the road, and my wife was using her lights so they could see crossing the road. My wife was actually sitting in the Chevron, and my two boys crossed the road; one made it to the other side, but the youngest didn’t have time to make it.”
Noah passed away at a local hospital three hours after the accident, at approximately 3:05 AM.
Regarding Amanda’s arrest, her husband stated, “I don’t like the situation at all, and she shouldn’t be there, [in jail].” He said he does not believe she would ever endanger their children.
He continued, “She’s sad. She hates every day of it, but all we can do is do the best we can from here on out.” He hopes she will receive a bond and be released so they can plan their son’s funeral together.
Remembering Noah, he said, “If we were upset about something, he made a joke, made us smile, a joyful kid.” He and his surviving son are grief-stricken.
Benjamin created an online fundraiser to help with Noah’s funeral arrangements.
