The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on March 19, 2024:
RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. – On March 18, 2024, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia in reference to an overdose of a one-year child believed to be from exposure to methamphetamine. The child was admitted to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division immediately started an investigation and on March 19, 2024, arrested and charged the mother, Deborah Danielle Wright (29 yoa), and the grandmother, Laura Michelle Wright (51 yoa), with one count each of Cruelty to Children in the Second-Degree.
The criminal investigation is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time. The booking photos have been attached and the incident report is unavailable at this time.
