HENRY COUNTY, Ga. – Police are searching for a 56-year-old Union Grove High School senior Navy JROTC science instructor who faces a sexual assault allegation regarding a 17-year-old student. The female victim said Rodney Freeman attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with her on Friday, December 13, 2024, and her father reported the incident to authorities.
The high school’s website listed Freeman as overseeing the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Upon learning of the accusation, the Henry County School District placed Freeman on administrative leave. Police attempted to speak with the suspect; however, he reportedly hired legal representation and vanished.
Witnesses recollected last seeing him at his Saffron Lane residence in McDonough on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
Freeman’s relatives failed to hear from him and reported him missing on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Law enforcement is now asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.
The school district stated, “He has since become the subject of a missing person investigation, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest related to an off-campus incident.”
