COWETA COUNTY, Ga. – A Newnan Church of Christ employee was arrested after the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office received a child sexual abuse material tip. Deputies searched his Buttonbush Court home and then detained 38-year-old James Morgan Gravley.

The sheriff’s office received an alert from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on March 6 regarding an IP address in the area. Coweta County Sergeant Toby Nix said the IP address contained downloaded child sexual abuse material.

Following an investigation, the Coweta County Crime Suppression Unit executed a search warrant at his residence on April 2. The Internet Crimes Against Children unit arrested Gravley on April 3, 2024, and jail employees stated that he was released from jail the next day on a $12K bond.

Gravley faces the charge of felony child sexual exploitation. Officials stated that during the search warrant’s execution, “multiple electronics, as well as additional evidence, were taken to be processed.”

The church’s website listed Gravley as a family minister before someone removed his staff page. A sheriff’s office spokesperson said Gravley’s position at the church is irrelevant to their investigation, and no children were in danger.

Jail records revealed that he has a wife and three children. This case is pending in court.
