PLAINVILLE, Ga – A seventeen-year-old man has been charged with molesting a family member after the young boy came forward about the assault last month. The suspect allegedly forced the child to perform a sex act on him four years ago.
Reports say that Harold Gage Crawford, of Plainville, admitted to forcing the child to perform oral sex on him in 2019.
A family member called police after confronting the victim about sexually inappropriate behavior at school. He was reportedly making sexual comments to female children, which concerned his family. While discussing the behavior, the boy confided that Crawford had molested him. The victim’s family immediately called police.
On April 27, Crawford was removed from the home and sent to stay with a church member while the sheriff’s office and the Department of Family and Children’s Services investigated the allegations. On May 4, Crawford was arrested on five counts of child molestation and booked into jail. This case is currently pending in court.

On Thursday April 27, 2023 at approximately 1643 hours, Deputy W.S. JINRIGHT with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Plainville Rd SW Plainville, Gordon County, Georgia in reference to a assault report.
Upon arrival Deputy JINRIGHT met with [WITNESS #1], who said that her adopted nephew [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had been having issues at school with talking inappropriately to juvenile girls. Ms [WITNESS #1] said that she approached juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] about his conduct and he told her that 4 years ago that his older brother juvenile HAROLD made him perform oral sex on him.
Ms [WITNESS #1] said that she talked to juvenile HAROLD who at first denied the accusation, but later confessed to making juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] perform oral sex on him one time and he did say that it happened possibly 4 years ago. Deputy JINRIGHT got all information needed for the report and called Sergeant R.C. GARCIA and told him what had happened.
Sergeant GARCIA said to call DFCS and he would call Lieutenant B.M. SITTEN. Deputy JINRIGHT called and spoke to DFCS and they said that if Ms [WITNESS #1] had someone juvenile HAROLD could go to while they got a care plan in place.
Deputy JINRIGHT asked Ms [WITNESS #1] if she had anyone that juvenile HAROLD could go stay with and she said that he could stay with her pastor, [REDACTED]. Mr [REDACTED] said that he would make sure juvenile HAROLD would get to where he needed to go and he would keep him until he heard anything else from Ms [WITNESS #1].
Deputy JINRIGHT called DFCS back and told them that juvenile HAROLD was going to Mr [REDACTED]’S residence. DFCS told Deputy JINRIGHT that they would follow up at a later time. Deputy JINRIGHT recorded audio and video on his in car camera. Deputy JINRIGHT completed and submitted a DFCS referral.
