GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – Two men have been arrested after they allegedly posed as sheriff’s deputies and held a Gwinnett County family at gunpoint during a home invasion, authorities said.

Samuel Baxter and Devin Bowers are charged with home invasion, kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The homeowner, who asked to remain anonymous, said two masked men claiming to be law enforcement knocked on his door in the middle of the night and said they had a search warrant.

His 20-year-old son opened the door thinking it was law enforcement on the front porch. The men then forced their way inside and held his three oldest children at gunpoint while he and his 3-year-old were upstairs sleeping, the homeowner said.

“When they got all the kids downstairs, they then rushed to my bedroom in the back and busted in there and were like, ‘police! police! search warrant.’ And I’m like, ‘what?’ What are they searching my house for,” the homeowner said.

The men forced him and his toddler downstairs and pointed guns at them while additional suspects arrived and ransacked the house, he said.

“They went through the whole house. They took valuables and stuff, you know,” the homeowner said.

The homeowner estimates the men took around $60,000 worth of clothes, jewelry, electronics and cash.

Despite the ordeal, the homeowner said he has forgiven those responsible.

“I forgive you guys, you know. But I’m glad the law has caught you guys, and I hope you learned a valuable, valuable lesson behind this right here,” the homeowner said. “I just need more peace for me and my kids to live our lives.”

Law enforcement said the investigation is open and ongoing. Additional arrests could be coming.
